When Silence Is Golden.

Everyone has heard the adage silence is golden or you should think before you speak.  Everyone has undoubtedly had times where they regretted saying something.  The question becomes when is silence truly golden?  Here are a few suggestion:

  • When what you say will discourage someone from following their dreams.  Silence is golden. Nothing is worse than a dream-killer.
  • When you are upset and emotional and are about to respond to a situation.  Silence is golden.  An emotional/ angry response is often an ungodly response.
  • When you are telling others the same thing over and over again about what they should be doing. Silence is golden.  You can't change people only God can.
  • When you telling others about all the things you have done, and are doing.  Silence is golden.  Your actions will speak louder than any words ever could.
The tongue is the most dangerous weapon that we have and we have to be careful to use it for good and not evil.  The bible says, " With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness."  Ultimately silence is golden when it has positive effects on the kingdom of God and to be honest that is determined on a case by case basis.
